If Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry were still around, would the league be as sissy as it is today?
Q. Those two were two of the toughest SOB's in football. If they were still alive in this era of time, would the NFL have rules such as 'Brady Rule' where you can't tackle off the ground? Or would thins be like they were back in the 70's and 80's?

A. Hell no! And you wouldn't have these freakin' clowns like T.O. and Ocho Cinco running around either!

A. I think he way he handled it was very wrong. Maybe the Cowboys needed a new coach with fresh ideas, but to fire a living legend made Jerry Jones a pariah. He should at least have offered him a front office job.

Q. Does anyone know when (if?) the statue of Tom Landry is going to be moved to the new Cowboys stadium?
Asked by BDZot - Sun Nov 16 14:27:31 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I'm not a Cowboys fan. I don't care about Jerry Jones. If Jerry Jones doesn't bring the statue of Tom landry to the new venue then he will be exactly what I thought of him. A Classless and arrogant team owner who isn't worth thinking about. Tom Landry is one of the greatest coaches to grace the face of this earth. Tom Landry can't be forgotten no matter how badly Jerry Jones wants to. Any true fan of the Cowboys knows this.

A. I'm not a Redksins fan (or Cowboys for that matter) but I would go with Gibbs. He had a better record in the Superbowl (3-1 vs 2-3) and did so without a great QB. Landry had Hall of Famer Roger Staubach for both of his wins while Gibbs won despite having mere mortals Mark Rypien, Doug Williams and Joe Thiesman.

A. I think Landry is in the top 3 greatest all-time coaches, I always liked him when he was coaching, was very disappointed in how Jerry Jones handled his dismissal, and I am a lifelong Cowboys fan. But I have to agree with the posts above that say that it wouldn't be a money making movie, he was not a lively coach, there was never much controversy around him, and he never showed any emotion on the field. You never saw him get excited and act like a kid when the Cowboys would score. He just quietly went about his business without any fanfare. So it would be a boring movie about a great man.

A. That is a not as easy as it would seem. Where Tom Landry is legendary, Jimmy Johnson is really behind the Cowboys winning 3 Superbowls in 4 years. The only thing that makes Landry a better coach, is he was allowed to perform over a longer period of time. Tom Landy Is better with Jimmy a close second!

Addition: It's Christmas time ...can't we all play well together n answer the question asked instead of throwing insults n ignoring the question. I never saw Lombardi coach either but I have read a lot about him & know what the Lombardi Trophy is...Merry Christmas all!!!

A. Bill Walsh at many levels. He took a team who had so many losing seasons and turned it around practically overnight to a dynasty. The Niners brought out the football fan in people who were not football fans. He had an ear for talent. Joe Montana was a good example. Look at him on paper one would not think he was all that great but one of the greatest players of all time. Walsh gave us Jeff Garcia who no one gave a chance. He gave us some great years and if he had an offense that was in support of him he would had a couple of rings under his belt. In that time the Niners were willing to spend money to get good players to keep them in the playoffs and with that because of Bill Walsh and the beginning of building one of the greatest sports… [cont.]
