How to finish wood paneled that joins with a finished dry wall.?
Q. I have a wood paneled wall that frames a door at the end of a a hallway. The wood wall consists of unfinished wood pieces almost like a hardwood floor. How do I paint this wood to make it look like the rest of the walls in the hallway ? Can I cover it with some type of paper and paint the paper so it has the same texture as the drywall ? What about the corner where the wood meets the existing finished drywall - how do you make it looks smooth ?

A. Try using Brewster's Paintable Wallpaper, it may be left unpainted for a clean fresh look, or painted a solid color for drama. Apply additional highlight colors to raised design for a multi-toned effect. If the grooves in your paneling are 1/4 inch deep or more, hide them by filling them with caulk. Wipe away the overflow of caulk by running a putty knife along the groove. Once caulk is dry, prime the paneling with a stain-blocking latex primer. Let dry completely. Coat walls with an acrylic-emulsion sizing or one recommended by the liner manufacturer. Sizing creates a rough surface to help the liner adhere. A heavy-duty wallpaper liner, available where wallpaper is sold, is the secret to the project's success. Hang the liner… [cont.]

What is the best way to smooth out a rough finished concrete floor?
Q. This floor is in a hunting cabin we purchased. The room is 20x25. The slab is not finished with a float. It looks as if it was raked with a yard rake. It has a really rough surface with gravel showing and not level. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

A. Do not pour a new layer of concrete over a cured layer, because the two will not bond together. That kind of pour is called a "cold joint". One solution is to use an epoxy filler to smooth out the surface. Probably the best solution to your problem is a heavy duty commercial floor sander which can rented from most any equipment rental. Be sure to wear full body protection and a respirator while sanding, because the fine silica dust is extremely damaging to the lungs. Silica goes into the lungs and never comes out. Best thing to do is to hire a professional concrete finisher.

A. Actually, in the United States it's 22. Twenty-two is 18+4. Most students graduate high school at the age of 18, though some states and school districts specify a birth date bracket that puts a few students in line to graduate at 17. However, 22 is the expected age to graduate from college. Many universities are making their students take more distribution courses that can be difficult to accommodate with anything more than a single average major (like business or education). More involved majors like psychology or the sciences can create scheduling challenges. I know a LOT of students who needed an extra semester or year to finish undergrad.
