From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A hotel is an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis. The provision of basic accommodation, in times past, consisting only of a room with a bed, a cupboard, a small table and a washstand has largely been replaced by rooms with modern facilities, including en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning or climate control. Additional common features found in hotel rooms are a telephone, an alarm clock, a television, and Internet connectivity; snack foods and drinks may be supplied in a mini-bar, and facilities for making hot drinks. Larger hotels may provide a number of additional guest facilities such as a restaurant, a swimming pool or childcare, and have conference and social function services. Hotel rooms are usually numbered (or named in some smaller hotels and B&Bs) to allow guests to identify their room. Some hotels offer meals as part of a room and board arrangement. In the United Kingdom, a hotel is required by law to serve food and drinks to all guests within certain stated hours; to avoid this requirement it is not uncommon to come across private hotels which are not subject to this requirement. In Japan, capsule hotels provide a minimized amount of room space and shared facilities. In the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and Ireland (and rarely in some parts of the United States), the word may also refer to a pub or bar and might not offer accommodation. In India and Bangladesh, the word may also refer to a restaurant. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What is the difference between an hotel and apartment hotel? Q. Okay, so, I'm going to stay in an apartment Hotel.. And since it has the word 'hotel' in it, does it mean it's exactly like an hotel? Or something? Thanks if you answered. And, no, I'm not going to Greece, I'm going to Bangkok living in this Apartment Hotel called Citadines. Asked by Waii - Mon Nov 23 10:22:46 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. You`re going to Greece aren`t you...An Hotel is a big building with rooms and a restaurant where you have Breakfast, lunch and Dinner, and room service and a mini bar in the room and towels changed daily, etc and its expensive, or lets say, not cheap... An Apartmenthotel is a big building with rooms a reception area that doubles as a breakfast room for those on "half board", towels get changed every three or four days and you are "self catering" so its cheaper or lets say less expensive (though when you take in the food you have to buy, or eat out every night..it can be more expensive than staying in an hotel where it`s "all found") Answered by Dan S - Mon Nov 23 10:36:36 2009 What would you pay on average for a hotel room? How expensive is too expensive? Q. I'm doing a report for a Guest Management Service class on "How Expensive is too Expensive?" in regards to hotel prices. What you pay on average for a hotel room? And what do you think certain age groups pay for hotels? Who's more attracted to the expensive hotels and the cheap or medium priced hotels? Asked by Solahna - Mon Sep 21 16:28:27 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. On average, I pay between $80-$100 for a moderate hotel room that offers free internet and breakfast. I will pay up to $250 for a hotel room in a prime location (such as major cities or on the beach). The time of year also effects the cost of a room. A hotel in Washington, D.C. can be $75.00 a night in March but $375 in October or April. I think younger hotel guests are more interested in finding the cheapest price. Older guests are willing (and able) to pay higher prices for a prime location in high season that offers amenities such as restaurants, spa services, gym, pool, etc. Families want a moderate price for a clean, safe hotel.
