A teacher who facilitates education for an individual student may also be described as a personal tutor. The role of teacher is often formal and ongoing, carried out by way of occupation or profession at a school or other place of formal education. In many countries, a person who wishes to become a teacher at state-funded schools must first obtain professional qualifications or credentials from a university or college. These professional qualifications may include the study of pedagogy, the science of teaching. Teachers may use a lesson plan to facilitate student learning, providing a course of study which covers a standardized curriculum. A teacher's role may vary between cultures. Teachers teach literacy and numeracy, or some of the other school subjects. Other teachers may provide instruction in craftsmanship or vocational training, the Arts, religion or spirituality, civics, community roles, or life skills. In some countries, formal education can take place through home schooling. Informal learning may be assisted by a teacher occupying a transient or ongoing role, such as a parent or sibling or within a family, or by anyone with knowledge or skills in the wider community setting. Religious and spiritual teachers, such as gurus, mullahs, rabbis pastors/youth pastors and lamas may teach religious texts such as the Quran, Torah or Bible. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License How do aspiring teachers get help paying for college? Q. I want to be an art teacher of some sort. (theater, creative writing, general arts, photography) I'm a senior in high school, and I've heard that teachers are highly in demand in some places and that if you say you'll teach in that area for a certain amount of time or whatever, they'll help pay for your schooling. Could anyone give me some extra insight on this? Thanks. Asked by XD - Tue Oct 7 19:28:35 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. You can try for scholarships, as they are out there for aspiring teachers. Other than that, once you graduate if you have student loans (chances are - you will), in certain states you can get student loan forgiveness for those loans and have them erased. Depending on where you are willing to live, some communities are offering payment for student loans as part of their recruitment packages also. Here is a great site that gives you information on student loan forgiveness from the federal government for teachers (and military members and doctors willing to serve for a certain amount of time in poor communities) Good luck! Q. Teachers are often ineffective because they do not understand their students. When teachers and students operate at different frequencies, both get frustrated and unproductivity sets in. Good teachers know what students expect and work sincerely to fulfill students' needs. They deliberately engage in activities that would build and strengthen their students' potential. However, many times, communication between them are closed and teachers have no way of knowing what students 'really' expect from them. An open communication will help prevent this ill-practice at schools. Asked by Edward R - Sun Jul 9 14:26:17 2006 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments A. The most important thing is for the teacher to have a high expectation from their students. When the students are aware of that the teacher believes in their abillity the possibilities are endless. A child will respond if you have faith in him/her if not they shut down. Simple faith opens up all routes of communication. Take the example of the Kipp Academy...
